Which Car Has The Best Resale Value In Pakistan?

In recent years, a few models have exceptionally held or even gained value in Pakistan’s market, thanks to strong demand and brand trust. Based on Pakistani automotive listings and news, the cars with the highest resale values (2020–2025 launches) include the Toyota Hilux Revo, Honda City (6th gen), Toyota Corolla Cross, Toyota Fortuner, MG HS, and Suzuki Alto 660cc. Each of these models was launched around 2020–2024 and now commands a high used price. The figures below compare their launch (ex-factory) prices to 2025 average used prices.

1. Toyota Hilux Revo (2021–Present)

  • Launch Price (2021): 6.54–7.49 million (Revo V, G variants).

  • 2025 Resale (used 2021 models): 10.5–13.3 million.

  • Appreciation: Roughly +60–80% over 4 years (base model +60%, top trims +80%).

Toyota’s Hilux Revo is in unusually short supply and extremely popular as a reliable heavy-duty pickup. Originally priced around 6.5–7.5M in 2021, even high-mileage 2021 models now sell for 11–13M. This roughly 60–80% gain reflects its reputation for durability and strong demand (especially from businesses and rural users). The Revo’s limited annual imports and high utility contribute to its booming used price.

2. Honda City 6th Gen (2021–Present)

  • Launch Price (2021): 2.599–3.174 million (Pak-market 6th-gen).

  • 2025 Resale (used 2021 models): 3.35–5.40 million.

  • Appreciation: Approximately +30–70% (base ~+30%, top-spec ~+70%).

The new Honda City (introduced July 2021) was originally priced 2.6–3.17M. Today, even decade-old examples command far above launch price: base-model Cities (2.6M orig) now average 3.3M, and high-end City Aspire CVTs (~3.17M orig) sell around 5.4M. That’s roughly a 30–70% jump in value. Key reasons include its perennial popularity as a reliable sedan, strong air-condition and safety features, and a limited used supply of well-kept models. Brand trust and comfort (esp. among city commuters) help the City retain such value.

3. Toyota Corolla Cross (2022–Present)

  • Launch Price (2022): 7.86 million (petrol base model).

  • 2025 Resale (used 2022–2024 models): 7.75–9.00 million.

  • Appreciation: Roughly flat to +15%.

The Toyota Corolla Cross (launched 2022) debuted at about 7.862M for the base petrol variant. Used prices for 2022 models are now around 7.8–9.0M. In other words, its value has held steady or risen modestly (roughly +0–15%). This reflects its enduring Toyota appeal and popularity as a compact SUV. The high demand for fuel-efficient SUVs and Toyota’s reliability mean even used Crosses sell near their launch price. (Hybrid Crosses similarly track their original prices.)

4. Toyota Fortuner (2016–Present, facelifted 2020)

  • Launch Price (approx.): 10–12 million (base 2.7G diesel petrol pre-facelift, 2016–19).

  • 2025 Resale (used 2021–2024 models): 12.15–17.50 million.

  • Appreciation: Roughly +20–50% over original (base to top).

Toyota’s flagship SUV, the Fortuner, continues to command exceptionally high used prices. Though original launch prices are hard to pinpoint, early 2016–2019 base models were around 9–11M. Today a 2021 Fortuner sells between 12.15M and 17.50M. Even accounting for inflation, that’s a sizable increase (especially for well-equipped variants). Its strong resale is due to Toyota’s brand, off-road capability, and scarcity of 4×4 SUVs. The Fortuner’s durable V6 diesel engine and status as a luxury SUV ensure that buyer demand keeps prices high.

5. MG HS (2024–Present)

  • Launch Price (2024): Trophy 8.199M; PHEV 9.699M.

  • 2025 Resale (used 2024 models): 7.15–7.85M (Essence/AWD) to 10.05M (PHEV).

  • Appreciation: Approximately flat (Essence –8%; PHEV +4%).

The MG HS is a newer Chinese SUV sold in Pakistan. Launched in early 2024 at 8.2M (base Trophy) and 9.699M (PHEV), its used prices a year later are comparable: around 7.2–7.8M for standard AWDs and 10.05M for the PHEV. In other words, the HS has held its value very well (changes on the order of a few percent). Its strong resale stems from being a fresh model with modern features, and its popularity as MG’s first hybrid offering. Buyers value the HS’s technology and warranty, so used demand remains high despite its short market history.

6. Suzuki Alto 660cc (2022–Present)

  • Launch Price (2022): 2.994–3.326 million (VXR to VXL AGS)

  • 2025 Resale (used 2022–2024 models): 3.0–3.5 million (AGs models)

  • Appreciation: Roughly +0–15% (depending on variant).

Surprisingly, even Pakistan’s small cars can hold value. The 2022 Alto 660cc launched at 3.0–3.33M for the top VXL AGS trim. In late 2024/early 2025, used market prices for similar models are 3.3–3.5M. That’s a modest increase (on the order of +5–15%). High demand from fleet (ride-sharing) operators and limited supply of CNG‑capable Altos has kept prices firm. In short, the Alto’s proven reliability and fuel economy mean even one- or two-year-old examples remain nearly as expensive as new.

Sources: Pakistani automotive sites and classifieds were used. Launch prices come from manufacturer press releases and local media brecorder.com, toyota-central.com, pakwheels.com. Current used prices and ranges are from PakWheels/Gari.pk listings. These reflect market trends up to 2025. All percentage calculations compare those figures.

The result: Toyota, Honda, MG, and Suzuki models dominate Pakistan’s top resale-value list due to reliability, demand, and brand trust.
